I am waiting for a call back from the OKC field rep for Senator Coburn to see if he can make it. I left a message for someone in the OSU Bookstore to see if the bookstore would donate 100 bags for the event so people could put their resources in them. We will have light refreshments available. Joyce told me a short time ago that she sent out the flyer to a bunch of people and organizations on campus at OSU. I sent out a reminder Sudnay Evening to those who were going to be on the panel about next week's event. Karen Bryan will be bringing information about both the TBI Program at Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation Hospital and the Brain Injury Association of Oklahoma with her. I believe I sent information to be copied off for TBI Raiders to Wallace Collins. Since my email was hacked into, previous emails I had sent were deleted. Then to OKC for the 2013 Pediatric TBI Conference. Again email was hackedemember the exact name for the event.

I've been doing a lot. Friday at the Oklahoma Self-Advocacy Meeting, I got brochures for the National Youth Leadership Network, Partners in Policy Making, Disability Law Center, and Developmental Disabilities Council. The Disability Law Center donated some pens as well. I haven't talked with Rep. Denney to see if she still plans on baking a cake for one of the giveaways to be had. When I was in OKC Friday, I stopped by the capitol. The legislators I frequently talk to weren't there but I wanted to update their secretaries so they'd know what was going on. I filled in Rep. Dorman's secretary on what he had said on twitter he would do (donate some giveaways). I told her I hadn't talked or really thought of how he would get those items to me once he got them. So little genius me suggested that he give them to Rep. Denney next time he saw her and then she could give them to me at church which would be the Sunday before the event. His secretary took note of it. So if Rep. Denney ever comes to this page, Lee, next time I'll check with you before I volunteer you for anything. I promise!!!

Yesterday I spent a little time on campus. I went to visit Joyce and talk to her about some things. I got a copy of the layout for the room the event will take in. There will be eight tables with I think it was eight chairs around the table. Then having some extra chairs in the back. I will be moderating both panels. I met a couple of young men who are in a fraternity. They were turning in their hours of volunteer work. I told them about the event. They said to send them some information and they would share it with others in the fraternity. I also spoke with my buddy Eric who said to send him information and he would share it with others in the Young Democrats Party. I'm waiting to hear back from one of the young men on the men's basketball team about helping with finding the last two members for the survivor panel.

I will be on campus today at Oklahoma State University. I should be on campus around two and will be in the student union till it gets close to four. At four I will be meeting with Joyce to finalize some details for the event. Then I will be hanging around campus then heading to the student senate meeting when it gets close to the time for it to start.
11:12pm - I'll post more tomorrow sometime about the meeting I had and speaking before the Student Senate.
3/05/2012
Starting on Wednesday and then on Friday I will be on campus at Oklahoma State University meeting with both volunteers and potential volunteers about the 28th. I've asked Vincent, the political science advisor to be the moderator for political portion of the forum. He said he needed to check on some things first then would back back with me with an answer.

I spoke with Erin Taylor who wanted me to send her the invite so she could send it to others who would be interested in coming to OSU for the event. I received a letter from Gov. Fallin which read
"Dear Ms. Murie:
Thank you for contacting the office of Governor Mary Fallin to share your thoughts concerning traumatic brain injury. Your willingess to share your comments will only help strengthen our state.
I have shared your correspondence with the Governor and she is appreciative of your input. Thank you again for taking the time to write. If we can be of further assistance, please feel free to contact us."
The invite are also being sent out today and in the letter the invite has the contact information for the person to make reservations if they want to secure a spot. Tonight I am planning on going to the social that the Payne County Democrats are having. I have some friends that should be there. So tonight's going to be my time to hangout with some friends!

Someone from Senator Coburn's office called me back this morning. The senator is not going to be able to participate on the panel but will be sending a field rep to be on the panel. Someone will be getting in touch with me about what is being done in Congress to help survivors in the field of TBI. I spoke to a few other people and will post any valuable updates I have when I get them. I'm hoping to have everything that needs to be done finished by the end of next week. In terms of things I have left to do, I only have like maybe five or six things left to finish.
2/29/2012
TBI Raiders 2 Day Experience is now just TBI Raiders Experience. Everything will be happening on March 28, 2012 from 2:00 - 3:30pm and will be happening in the Student Union Ballroom. It will be 30 minutes of the survivor panel, 30 minutes of the health/public policy professionals, and then 30 minutes of questions and answers. I'm going to work on getting some questions answered before the event so they can be posted on the message board after the event. Then there will be notepads and pens on the table for people to take notes and write down questions. The questions will be gathered up and from there, I'm still letting my memory unwind then I'll be posting more on here.
2/28/2012
Chances are TBI Raiders will turn into a one day event. Name will stay the same well minus the 2 Day and just be TBI Raiders Experience if this does turn into a one day event. Plus it'd be easier on me! lol I'm meeting with Joyce to discuss everything and get the invites ready to send out. We'll still have both panels but have 30 minutes for each and 30 minutes for questions and answers. I'm going to see if we can get the question and answers done ahead of time and have some of them done on video to post our YouTube account. The big reason behind turning this into a one day event is so the contacts in OKC can come up and really participate in this. Then also tonight I will be speaking at the Ambassadors meeting on campus at OSU about this.
2/25/2012
There will be another article in the O'Colly about TBI Raiders 2 Day Experience. I'll post a load of updates tomorrow or next week but I did a lot of talking to secretaries for three congressional leaders and two state representatives. Next Monday I will be meeting with Joyce about the March events. Then next Friday will be meeting with Joyce and at least one other person to discuss advocacy on campus at OSU.
4:58pm - I got a call from Sekemia who works for Senator Coburn. He said he was going to talk to the person who does scheduling for the senator to see if he could come down for TBI Raiders 2 Day Experience. When he called, I forgot to tell him that someone else had told me he wouldn't be able to. But Sekemia said he would talk to someone about his schedule and also would ask the senator if him and the other congressional leaders would create a platform on what they would do if re-elected to help those in the TBI Community.

We made the newspaper! There was an article about TBI Raiders 2 Day Experience in the O'Collegian at Oklahoma State University. You can find the article at http://www.ocolly.com/tbi-raiders-look-to-raise-awareness-at-osu-1.2789151#.T0PvZXnrSSo

LOL, my head is swarming after all the thinking I've done today. I spoke briefly tonight at a meeting for the OSU Native American Student Association. I am working on the invitational letters I will be sending out as well as a reservation card so we'll be able to have a head count. I should hopefully know maybe by tomorrow if we will be able to have both forums in the Student Union Ballroom. Next Monday I will be meeting with a friend and I think a classmate of hers is also doing the assignment with her. Anyways, Suzanne told me she was taking a disability (forgot the exact name) class and that they were studying TBI. She told me about a project they needed to do and asked if she could interview me. I said yes and so when we meet next week, we'll be talking about my L/R TBI. Next Wednesday at a meeting for the Oklahoma Self-Advocacy Network, I will be speaking about TBI Raiders 2 Day Experience. Speaking of which I think I'm going to head over to the online store to create some more stuff for it.

I have a meeting on Wednesday and then next Wednesday at Oklahoma State University for March. I'm waiting till we get more concrete details to post them on this page. Good news is TBI Raiders will continue to be on HireOSU.com! I received a phone call from the lady with Hire OSU. I keep forgetting her name! Times like this that I hate having short-term memory problems...lol.

8:35am I will be coming back throughout the day to post about all the meetings I had yesterday. My memory is trying to grasp and put things together from yesterday...lol Below is a list of things I did, I'll probably add to them as the day goes on and I get more sleep...rofl Met with my advisor - I did so I could get the finalized and approved major sheet of the classes I needed to take! Met with Dr. Gibbs (this is a dude that I have so much trouble meeting with cuz he's sooo busy!!!) - I updated him on everything and gave him a ton of business cards for TBI Raiders week which also had my contact information on it as well as the link to this page. We had talked how long we had known each other which is about 3 yrs and he spoke of all the improvement I have made in that time. He doesn't have plans laid out yet for a time table (lesson plans) for his classes yet. But when he does, we talked about me speaking sometime to some of his classes and I offered to see if I had other resources that might be of use for his class (talked about the resources I might have that don't deal with TBI. Met shortly with Dr. Miller - I needed her to sign my degree sheet since she is part of the faculty for the health promotions major. 12:30pm (more on yesterday) I filled Dr. Miller in on everything I had told Dr. Gibbs about. Met with a Political Science Adviser (I forgot his name! I hate short term memory problems) Met with Dr. Elmore and I'll post details about that meeting when I'm able to. What I can say is we got the dates picked out and people we want to take part in the panels. I'm to draft the letters inviting the people we want to take part. I'll be updating the details page now. More to come on this in two weeks since I am set to meet with her on the 18th this month to discuss more! 1/01/2012 Most awesome day ever! Just to let you know I'll be working on this page tomorrow. I just finished working a college basketball game tonight and am tired. But just to let everyone know Monday will be advocacy and Wednesday will be the panel of organizations and legislator/or candidates (depending on who's available at the time). 01/01/2012 HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone! Let's make 2012 our year! Let's make it the year that the disability voice was heard!!! I have a meeting Wednesday at Oklahoma State University with a friend who is helping with TBI Raiders Week. Cool thing happened last night, when I was hanging out where my husband works, I was telling this lady not only about TBI Raiders Week but also about my TBI. Come to find out she is a speech pathologist in OKC! I gave her a business card of mine so she could share with other survivors about what I'm doing in March! Check out www.zazzle.com/angeldance to see what I've added to the store! 12/31/2011 Just wanted to let you guys know I have gotten some...
12/19/2011 I am working on the Survived to Vote website and adding some pages which will be surveys for people to take. I'm also working on the TBI Raiders Week Newsletter and hope to have it uploaded on this page sometime today! 12/13/2011 I talked with Dr. Elmore at Oklahoma State. Besides for picking on me for not exercising like I said I would, I told her I was going to work on the brochure and letter and have it finished by the end of the week if not sooner. Then in January I'll meet up with her to discuss what I've come up with and we'll start going over plans for TBI Raiders Week. I'm also going to start working on a format on how things are to go as well as a script for Monday and Wednesday. I'll get them posted on here as soon as I am able to! Something I hope to do soon is get in touch with other states to see if they will send information about what they are doing in their state. 12/04/2011 I went through the below posts and didn't seeing any posting on what I'm about to post about. As far as the twitter posts go, I heard back from State Rep. Dorman. He said to mention him when it gets closer and he'll mention it in his weekly column. Then also he would help either with a donation or some items. At church this morning I talked to Rep. Denney who happily said she would donate either one or some prizes (I don't remember). I will also need to figure out exactly what I want Sen. Coburn, Rep. Lucas and his secretary to help with. I don't know if Rep. Lucas would do anything, but I'm pretty sure he would help if he is able to. Also on Linkedin.com, I'm a member of a group where I posted about the week and someone emailed me back today saying that they could "I can send you some articles documenting a return to normal memory functioning in a group of 19 TBI pts using activation database guided eeg biofeedback considerably better than anything else out there". I just sent my email to the person so they could send me the information. Then this week I will be calling hospitals and rehabilitation facilities to see if I can go speak to Traumatic Brain Injury survivors there about TBI Raiders Week. 12/02/2011 Just had an awesome meeting with Dr. Elmore on campus at OSU about TBI Raiders Week. She is one of the people who will help me put together a brochure and letter to send to faculty on campus at OSU!!! Will post more later. Need to rest up some before I work tonight's high school playoff game. 11/30/2011 I will post more a little later about my meeting with Dr. Byrd. She suggested not doing a week but rather a couple of events every two months. Realistically the impression I got was she did see the need for the name TBI Raiders and appeared to get frustrated every time I said the name. Mainly because its not a student organization and I'm the only one doing this stuff. And if students have a TBI on campus, it is not severe. I feel quite alone in this big world now...lol 11/30/2011 Today I will be going to campus to meet with Dr. Byrd and to speak with her about TBI Raiders Week. I will be updating her on everything and will have my USB drive so I can share with her the new documents which I have created for the week. 11/25/2011 I am the process of sending messages on twitter to people about TBI Raiders Week. Hopefully those individuals will help volunteer, help with recruiting volunteers, donate prizes, or help with getting information out about TBI Raiders Week. I'm going to try to update various pages on this site tonight or at least see which pages need to be updated. 11/17/2011 I am working on documents detailing what I would like to see go on each day. There is the potential to change some of the details to some degree. I have each day finished for the most part but will be completely finishing them up tomorrow. Also I've been talking to A LOT of people about TBI Raiders Week 2012, which the whole reason I haven't been posting because I've needed sleep from all that thinking...lol, there is quite a bit of interest in the week. So I am hopeful we will have a lot of participation this year. 11/02/2011 When worked tonight's basketball game tonight, I saw State Representative Morgan. I updated him on everything I've been up to and told him about TBI Raiders Week that will be next year. I ask him to tell TBI survivors in his district about what I'm doing and he said he would plus he congratulated me on getting married. 10/15/2011 I have talked to two potential sponsors who are very interested in helping out and one is interested in volunteering...the other one is willing to talk to some of his contacts to help get more sponsors. Here's to hoping we start getting volunteers coming out of the wood works. lol As far as the day and time and place for the meetings, I need to see what works best for the volunteers and I'll work my schedule around that. Also working on a presentation detailing the days and what needs to be done. Email me at osuallie@gmail.com if you are interested in helping out! | Volunteer Count:4 Moderator: Allie Murie Participants for Survivor Panel (Not putting what they have to deal with; you will just have to come to find out) Michael Merit Trevin Lawson Participants who for sure will be on the Panel Wallace Collins, Oklahoma Democratic Party Field Rep for Senator Coburn, will have a name later to post here Karen Bryan, Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation Hospital - TBI Program Michael Shuttic - Oklahoma Association of Higher Education And Disabilities
